The National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities has funded the Community CATALYST Center (P20MD019799), led by OCHIN with Rachel Gold, Karen Albright, and Hossein Estiri as principal investigators.

GridEX is the environmental data behind the center. OCHIN supports community health centers across the country on a shared electronic health record. Linking GridEX to that record lets the center study how extreme temperature events relate to health care use and outcomes in safety-net populations, at the 500 m resolution where exposure actually differs between neighborhoods.

The linkage is also a test of what GridEX was built for: a gridded exposure resource that joins to health data regardless of the geographic units those data use.
